The problem with creatitivty is that it waxes and wanes, like the moon and the tides, only less consistently and not at all predictably.

I sit here after many months of silence and wonder if THIS time I may be able to dedicate enough creative juices to my blog, starting up my business and maintaining my Instagram, which sees periodic upticks in activity until the next round simmers and I get back to ‘life’ stuff. There is never a shortage of ‘life’ that comes into play and im loving every minute of being home with my kids, while still working my full time corporate job and taking care of our pup, our home, and oh yes – me and my hubs. And Im very much excited about the resurgence of creativity currently injected in ….oh wait a minute… that train of thought got interrupted by Tot on a Staircase, whose life I jut narrowly saved from plunder and Tot is now sitting with me so this is getting typed with one hand. Pity the fool who doesn’t laugh in the face of danger I feel him saying in his one year old minds’ eye.
Anyway another problem with creativity is that the creative types of humans often tend to be half mad, what some may more fondly deem an eccentric, or quirky if you will sugar coat it. Think Howard Hughes, Salvador Dali, My designer brother in law for example channels different eras in his attire each few months and it changes based on the personality mood he is feeling at the time. For example he wore a blue kimono for months and somehow matched it to everything he wore. He also pulled a ‘Bronson’ vibe with his moustaches for several months or the retro neon ski jackets from the 80s that he rocked amazingly well, and most recently it’s a low key Steve Jobs look; all simple black everything, all day every day. There may be a hint of creative genius in my eldest son too, whose hair always seems to match his mood. I’m not the only one who noticed it.
An element of negativity in relation to creativity is that you see the best in everything, all of the furniture you have ‘could be’ great if only there are a few tweeks here and there, so you (or I) constantnly find yourself doing home improvements, or what the cool kids are now calling upcycling everything. This quickly becomes costly and you should have a patient partner who entertains these moods. The creatives often feel the need to go all out with seasonal décor like Christmas, Halloween, fall, spring etc, just ask. But on the bright – I hardly ever ask him to ‘honey do’ anything as I prefer to work with the power tools myself. So there’s that?
Lastly, the Creatives often has a curious nature, typically enjoys exploring and having novel experiences, they see opportunity where others see threats, they have a spark that doesn’t get promoted in schools who like to regurgitate obedient worker bees, and they never quite fit in any prescribed box imposed by societal standards at large.
Woe is the Creative for they live a life as outcasts. Just as they like it!
